Youth Swim Classes Build Safety and Confidence

With a focus on keeping kids safe in and around water, Y swim lessons go beyond just teaching techniques and skills – we’re committed to nurturing swimming skills and developing confidence in all our students. With small class sizes and experienced instructors, your child will receive personalized attention and guidance as they learn and grow.

Whether your child is just starting out or looking to improve their skills, our swim lessons offer a supportive and encouraging environment for them to succeed.

Cost: $40 for members; $60 for non-members. Fees are per child per session. Each session includes 7-8 lessons. New sessions start at the beginning of every month.

Frequently Asked Questions

These lessons introduce infants and toddlers ages 6 months-3 years to the aquatic environment. Children will explore body positions, blowing bubbles, and fundamental safety and aquatic skills. Accompanied by a parent in the water, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.

Lesson Times:
Mon & Fri: 8:30am-9:00am, twice a week for 4 weeks
Saturday: 8:30am-9:00am, once a week for 8 weeks

Increase your child’s comfort with underwater exploration and introduce basic self-rescue skills performed with assistance (and eventually self-rescue skills independently). Children learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills:

Preschool (3-5 yrs) Lesson Times:
Mon & Fri: 9:15am-9:45am, twice a week for 4 weeks
Mon & Wed: 5:30pm-6:00pm, twice a week for 4 weeks

Youth (6-12 yrs) Lesson Times:
Mon & Wed: 6:15-6:45pm, twice a week for 4 weeks

Your child will develop intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages. Introduces basic stroke technique in front crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and elementary backstroke.

Lesson Times:
Mon & Wed: 7:00pm-7:30 pm, twice a week for 4 weeks

These classes introduce the breaststroke and butterfly, and also reinforce water safety through treading water and side stroke. Participants will refine their stroke technique on all major competitive strokes and be encouraged to continue swimming as a part of a healthy lifestyle. Having mastered the fundamentals, students learn additional water safety skills and build stroke techniques, developing skills that prevent chronic disease, increase social, emotional, and cognitive wellbeing, and foster a lifetime of physical activity.

Tue & Thurs: 5:30pm-6:15 pm, twice a week for 4 weeks
